Etsy Inspired #103--8.28.10

Happy Saturday all!! It's time again for the fabulous Etsy Inspired Challenge! I love being part of this design team because I am inspired by sooo many things on a daily basis, so Etsy Inspired Challenge is the perfect outlet for this. This week's shop is The Caged Fairy. This shop makes some beautiful metal jewelry pieces featuring motifs of owls, turtles, elephants, frogs, roosters and other animals. Jewelry items include bracelets, earrings and neclkaces, but the shop also sells small home decorative items as well. The shop will be rewarding one winner of this week's challenge with their choice of any piece in the shop. Here's some of the beautiful work that you could choose form if you're that lucky winner!

And, now for the piece that inspired my card. I was inspired by the coral colors, the soft ruffles of the fabric flower and those delicious beads. I love how beautifully feminine this piece is!

So, this is the design that I came up with. I incorporated the coral color of the necklace with this lavish lace and the cardstock label. By infusing the color only in selected spots on the card, the color pops dramatically. The pearl flourish embellishment and cream opalescent pearl button on the card are inspired by the many beautiful pearls in the necklace. And, since I love the beautiful flower in the inspiration necklace, I used a similar flower from Webster's Pages. This was such a fun inspiration, and it was a total  fluke as I was considering the Owl Crystal necklace before I found this one.

Etsy Inspired #102--8.21.10

Hello everyone! Happy Saturday morning, welcome to another Etsy challenge. I am really excited to share with you this week's shop Art and Philanthropy.   This shop creates funky and colorful recycled collage art and prints geared for children. I especially liked the prints featuring Russian nesting dolls, owls, birds and trees. Here are my favorites from this week's shop.

What I was inspired by the most were the shop's funky designs, with bright colors and use of recycled material. So, for this week's challenge I decided to incorporate two criteria into my designs. My first criteria was the use of cardboard (my recycled material) and the second criteria was to only use paper and materials that I had on hand. So, here are the three cards that I designed for the challenge; the first card was my inspiration and the card following is my design.
